We’ve launched the English Fine Cottons online store with a range of high-quality t-shirts and luxury shirting fabrics.
In the coming months, we’ll be adding more items made with our Extra Long Staple (ELS) Supima cotton yarns that are currently still in development.
All of the garments and fabrics are entirely British-made in collaboration with like-minded UK manufacturing partners.
And our t-shirts are not only made from cotton yarns spun at Tower Mill, but they are finished here too, by our small dedicated team of machinists.
Yarn to T-shirt in Less Than 200 Miles
After they’re spun, the super fine yarns are sent from our mill in Dukinfield to the Midlands to be knitted into a variety of high quality jersey fabrics.
The rolls of fabrics are then returned to be made up into t-shirts, which means each one has been on a journey of less than 200 miles to get from fibre to garment.
The Opposite of Fast Fashion
General manager Andy Ogden said the t-shirts are an antidote to today’s ‘fast fashion’. Andy said: “They’re not mass produced and every single one is made with great care.
“It’s been a process of trial and error to perfect the t-shirts and the manufacturing process. Now, we’re really proud of the quality of them.
The fabrics are beautiful and made to a really high standard, these are t-shirts that are made to last.”
An Industry Returned
Our mission to reinstate the British cotton industry has come a long way since we went into production in 2016.
Andy said: “When you consider that three years ago, cotton yarns came from abroad and now we’re able to make a range of t-shirts entirely in this country – that’s a great achievement!
“Back then, Tower Mill was almost derelict but now it’s a hi-tech hub of modern technology for making sought after cotton yarns. And, it’s a place where we are making truly British garments.”
A T-Shirt to Fit Everyone
Four unisex crew neck T-shirts are currently on sale and available in white, black and navy blue.
The Alex and Taylor T-shirts are smart, slim-fit styles. The Alex is made from a light-weight fabric, while the Taylor is a heavier jersey fabric. The Finley smart casual T-shirt is a more relaxed cut, and the Emery is a loose fit for the over-sized look
Provided they are cared for correctly, the t-shirts will stand the test of time. The longer, stronger fibres in our ELS Californian Pima cotton means garments are more resistant to pilling. The colour will also stay vibrant for longer as dye penetrates deeper into finer yarns.
Luxury Fabrics by the Shirt-Length
In addition to the t-shirts, bolts of our beautiful shirting fabrics are also available on the shop website. Sold by the shirt-length in a range of classic colours and weaves, the fabrics were woven and finished in the North West.
Customers will be able to take these to a shirt-maker/tailor to be made-up into a bespoke shirt – although we recommend you ask them first!
By Popular Demand
Our online shop has come by popular demand. English Fine Cottons has a dedicated army of supporters who regularly ask where they can purchase a Britspun product.
Andy said: “We’re really grateful for the support from people around the world, who have been following our story since our inception. We hope they continue to support us as we develop further and make more of our products available.”
We’re offering a 10% discount on all our t-shirts to customers making their first purchase. Just check out our offers page and sign up to the newsletter to get the voucher code. Customers who have already subscribed can find their voucher code on the latest newsletter.
