Poplin Shirting

Product Description

Made in the UK from start to finish.

An easy mix of durability and elegance makes poplin an extremely popular fabric.  Famously, in Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel Little Women, published in 1868, sisters Meg and Jo attended a New Year’s Eve ball in their best poplin dresses, in contrast to the pure silk gowns of their fellow guests.

Poplin’s distinctive ribbed texture and tightly closed weave creates a lustrous fabric that’s ideal for shirts and blouses. Our poplin fabric is made using combed 2-ply 100s yarns, spun from extra-long-staple Californian Pima cotton at our mill in Manchester. It’s woven locally to produce fabric.
